A Belated Birthday Blog

A little post and a few pictures from my birthday ūüôā

We were blessed with glorious, hot and¬†sunny weather all weekend.¬† I normally live in jeans, but I actually got my legs out and wore a skirt for once!¬† The¬†girls were doubly¬†stunned that I went out without a coat as well.¬† I’m so much happier when the sun shines and it warms up a bit – it makes such a difference to my mood.

We didn’t¬†do much in the way of celebrations.¬† I¬†think when you’ve got children your own birthday kind¬†of takes a back seat.¬† We took the girls for their swimming lessons in the¬†morning and when we got home I opened my lovely little selection of thoughtful cards and presents.¬†¬†I even managed to convince everyone to have some photos with me – it’s so rare that I’m in the frame (99% of the time it’s me behind the camera), but I really wanted some up-to-date images of the girls and I together.¬†¬†As usual we deployed the ‘silly-face-photo’ tactic¬†first to get everyone giggling and then got some shots with real smiles afterwards.¬† We did a few selfies on the husband’s phone too¬†it’s the only way we can get us all in¬†one photo¬†ūüôā

After lunch we ended up heading over to¬†a brand new Next superstore that opened near us¬†last week.¬† It was the first chance I’d had to get up there¬†because work and life have been so busy recently.¬†¬†It’s enormous!¬† A huge ‘home’ department, plus children’s, men’s and women’s collections, an accessories section¬†and even a Costa Coffee.¬† The husband treated me to a few little¬†bits for our¬†house that I fell I love with (I’m gradually changing our bedroom to a grey, yellow¬†and white colour scheme, though it’s taking¬†AGES)¬†and¬†a¬†lovely necklace that I’ve been eyeing up¬†for a while.¬† The girls each¬†got a little treat too – Ella decided on a bag, Mimi chose a cowgirl hat and Lola picked out some Frozen sunglasses.

Even though we didn’t really do much, just having the time together as a family pottering around in the sunshine was enough for me.¬† I’m so lucky to have them.

I am a little bit obsessed with hearts, so when I saw this mug I had to have it as I broke the mug that Ella gave me a few months ago and hadn’t found one to replace it. Plus some pretty faux flowers for our bedside tables

A birthday kiss!

Gorgeous flowers from my Mum and stepdad – they know I love tulips and these rainbow ones are so pretty and colourful.

I was crowned ‘Queen Mummy’ for the day – what an honour! ūüėČ

The husband also treated me to this heart cushion (it matches the mug!) and I really love it.

Mimi modelling her new favourite thing – her cowgirl hat! (I kind of like it too – I might have to borrow it sometime…!)
