Last Sunday I met up with my lovely friend Hannah and her two gorgeous children, Dolores and Jared, for a walk in the woods and my second on-location photo-shoot.
It’s been months since I’ve seen them and yet I was greeted with bear hugs and enthusiastic kisses and “We’re so excited to see you!” squeals from the kiddies plus a big squeeze from Hannah. Hannah doesn’t drive, so I bundled them all in my car and we set off, the children chattering nineteen to the dozen in the back seat, giving a running commentary of the things they could see out of the windows and asking question after question about where we were going and why.
Dolores had written a list of ‘Things To Spot’ whilst on our woodland walk, though unfortunately she’d left it at home! She could remember plenty of the things on it though – items such as sticks, different coloured leaves, pine cones, dogs and other families – so we set off with our eyes peeled to see what treasures we could find. “I didn’t even THINK of tree stumps or horses Chloe!” she shouted excitedly after we stumbled across both unexpectedly.
Jared was in awe of the trees. He almost toppled over backwards in an effort to see the top of them – “They’re just SO BIG Mummy!” – and he loved running his hand over the bark to feel whether it was rough or smooth.
And in between these moments of discovery the two of them were so incredibly loving towards their Mummy. They were constantly giving her kisses and holding her hand and asking for cuddles. It was really beautiful to witness their affection and love for her, and her love and affection for them in return.
I thoroughly enjoyed capturing this gorgeous little family during our time together. I hope these images bring back the happy memories we created in the woods and tell the story of who they are in the way I know them to be.
