This installment of #projecthappy covers the end of one year and celebrates the start of a brand new one in the form of 2018. In reality they’re just man-made numbers and dates which, in the grand scheme of things, don’t really mean anything. And yet we as humans have a habit of making this transition more complicated and significant than it needs to be. It never feels that different to me – it’s just another day.
But waking up to another day is always a cause for celebration, and that’s what this little project is all about – celebrating the ordinary, joyful, perfectly imperfect moments. I’m almost at the end of my fourth consecutive year of documenting our everyday and I can’t wait to continue on into a fifth year in a couple of months time. It still surprises me that I’ve made it this far. It feels so natural now and I love that it does.
My joyful moments from the first week or so of January…
Day 301: My beautiful cousin and her two gorgeous kiddos came to play for the day. It was so good to see her, catch up on all the family news and watch our children playing together
Day 302: New Year’s Eve. I much prefer staying at home, watching Graham Norton, Jools Holland and then the fireworks on TV. So that’s exactly what we did 🙂
Day 303: New Year’s Day so we opened our Happy Jar and reminisced about everything we did and all the memories we made in 2017
Day 304: Lola’s eighth birthday!
Day 305: Lola had her party today and watching her surrounded by her friends, giggling non-stop, was really lovely
Day 306: The girls were back at school today and I escaped to the first, very much needed, yoga class of the year
Day 307: A pretty sunset 🙂
Day 308: After just two days back at school we were all feeling the need for a chilled out weekend. I love this photo of my girls chatting round the table at lunchtime on Saturday.
Day 309: An absolutely beautiful winter day so we dragged the girls out for a walk in the sunshine and had a really lovely morning
Day 310: We booked a holiday! Any guesses where we might be going?!
