1/ It's exactly one month until Christmas Eve 😳

2/ My youngest daughter just declared, randomly out of nowhere, that "Everyone is a poet inside!" and I'm over here just questioning how I managed to create such a wise little soul.

It might still be just about Autumn outside but the girls are in full-on festive mode inside ❄

They've had Christmas music playing since the start of November; they've made paper snowflakes; and Lola got the glass pens out and decorated her window with hand-drawn coloured lights.

We usually wait until after Ella's birthday at the start of December before we begin getting the house ready for Christmas but it's bringing them a huge amount of joy and that can only be a good thing. I'm not putting the tree up yet though! 🎄😂

I've had someone home from school with me almost e

I've had someone home from school with me almost every day for the last two weeks: migraines; nasty colds; tummy aches; anxiety attacks... All whilst having a decorator in painting the entire house so nothing is where it's supposed to be AND me doing my absolute best to work with therapy clients around it all.
.
Now it's my turn to feel a bit poorly for the first time in ages (there's a lesson in all of this somewhere, I'm sure) and I'm planning on taking inspiration from Lola, pictured here with her beloved Teddy and Harry Potter book, by spending the evening curled up on the sofa under a blanket working my way through my current read - 'The Top Five Regrets Of The Dying' by @bronnie.ware . Have you read it? So far it's heart-warming, thought-provoking and gut-wrenching in equal measure.

How are you? What are your plans for this evening? What are you currently reading? My Christmas wishlist is basically mostly books so all recommendations are always gratefully received!

19th Nov 2021: a random collection of thoughts.

Almost 2/3 of the way through November and I'm still sharing images from October. My youngest daughter reliably informs me that it's only 36 days until Christmas which is, quite frankly, somewhat horrifying because it still feels like September to me. Time is all muddled and I keep coming back to this image, taken whilst we were in Cornwall, and I'm not really sure why. I like the steam on the windows and the mess on the side. I like the shapes and the colours. I like what it represents to me which is that there is so much beauty in the everyday ordinary if we choose to look for it.
.
I spend a lot of time at the kitchen sink. It's where I do my thinking. Writing in my mind, coming up with new ideas, reminiscing over memories and trying to extract the important things from the stuff I can let go. I guess it makes sense that I'm drawn to continuously capture something that is such a feature in my life. A curiously reliable constant throughout the ever changing landscape of motherhood and a mid-pandemic world. There will always be washing up to do so I may as well find some joy in it.
