Beautiful Barcelona {mini-break part 3}

In September 2024 I was lucky enough to be able to visit Spain to spend a few days solo in beautiful Barcelona.  Visiting this fascinatingly unique city has been a long-held dream of mine, so I was thrilled to be able to finally make it happen.

I had three full days there to explore (plus a travel day either side) and a loooooong list of things I wanted to see, do and experience.

You can read all about what I got up to during the first two days of my travels in beautiful Barcelona in Part 1 here, and follow along with the latter half of my adventure in Part 2 here.

Beautiful Barcelona

I took a ridiculous number of photographs – both on my big camera and on my phone – whilst I was exploring the city, especially considering it was only a short trip.  I couldn’t help myself.  The light!  The architecture!  The street art!  Everywhere I looked there seemed to be something extraordinary.

Sometimes it was a permanent fixture on the landscape of the streets, confidently and proudly demanding my full attention.  And sometimes it was more shy than that – a fleeting moment in time that I happened to be fortunate enough to witness and be present for; a moment which, if I hadn’t been paying attention, I’d have missed.  A perfectly placed pocket of light, an interesting shadow, a pause, a held breath in the midst of all the hustle and bustle…

The in-between moments will forever be my favourite thing to capture whenever I travel.  They somehow depict so much more of the story of a place than the images of well-known tourist attractions are able to tell.  There’s more depth, more character, more detail.  My imagination goes wild wanting to know more.

This post is purely for me to share all of those magic in-betweens that I glimpsed whilst I was in beautiful Barcelona.  They deserve to be seen and to live somewhere other than the hard drive of my laptop.  So here is a carefully curated collection of the street art I stumbled across; the intricate tiles that adorned so many buildings; the labyrinthine back streets that I lost myself in for hours; the laundry draped over balconies demonstrating real life in all it’s glory; magical morning light; quintessential and quirky street scenes; lines; fruit; flowers; stickers and doors!

I hope you enjoy looking through them as much as I do.
