The weeks seem to be flying by at the moment. Someone told me the other day that it’s only about ten weeks until Christmas and I just can’t wrap my head around that. We’ve only just had summer!
It’s been busy as usual – school and work and life. Decision-making and family stuff and never enough sleep. But that’s ok – it’s just the season we’re in at the moment. Taking a pause in between the busy to notice the good stuff helps keep everything in perspective.
My moments of joy each day from the start of October:
Day 211: A golden sunset
Day 212: I noticed that my roses are still blooming even though summer is over!
Day 213: Still haven’t cleaned those windows but Luna doesn’t care – it’s her current favourite spot to sit and watch the world go by.
Day 214: Someone got awarded ‘star baker’ for her apple and sultana oat crumble in food tech class today 🙂
Day 215: There is a homeless girl I see quite regularly in our town. She’s not very old – early twenties maybe? Her teeth are black, her hair is greasy and she’s always shivering. Every so often I buy her a hot chocolate and normally she takes it without a word. Today she looked up at me, smiled and said thank you. Kindness doesn’t cost very much and it can make a real difference to someone’s day.
Day 216: A rather lovely afternoon having a hot chocolate date and a walk in the sunshine with Kerri Ann, a local blogger who has been so supportive of me over the last couple of years.
Day 217: My favourite sunset of the season so far. Absolutely spectacular.
Day 218: Practising for her next food tech assignment – French bread pizza!
Day 219: The final high school visit with Mimi. I loved this mural that was in the library and it was really lovely having a couple of hours just her and I together.
Day 220: A glowy sunset. And Mimi scored all the goals in the football competition she entered with a team from school.
New Year Wishes
