Hi there! I’m very sorry- I haven’t been on here for a VERY long time! We have had the fire, two months of a kitchen-free environment and have just been on holiday to Bude, North Cornwall. And so here is Part One of my blog post…

ENJOY!

Day One: Saturday

After waking up really early (5.30 am!) we set off just after six and drove for approximately four-and-a-half hours.

We meandered around town for a while, stopping in Costa for lunch and in our favourite bookshop – Spencer Thorn – before heading to our usual stay: the Beach Haven, which had recently undergone recent additions and changes and which was better than ever!

And then, of course, we just had to walk across the cliffs. I mean, it wouldn’t be the start to the holiday without this tradition, would it?

Day Two: Sunday

Exhausted from yesterday’s long drive, Sunday started with a lazy morning of cards and reading.

Later that afternoon, we headed down to the skate park by Crooklet’s, which had recently undergone some awesome wall art…We may have also had a go on the ramps as well…. 😉

And, of course, we had to begin completing our traditional goal of at least one ice cream per day and so we headed into the Crooklet’s Beach Cafe and experienced some really yummy (and sour, in Mimi’s case) ice creams 😛

Day Three: Monday

Now, Dad sometimes generously gives us some holiday money to spend…except this year he wanted to spice it up a bit. He brought us all down to the dining table and set up some mugs and said that if we got the game correct, he’d give us £10. Then, at the end of the game, we picked the right mug and each won the £10; however, under one mug was £20 each and under the other was £60 each!!! I was so annoyed as I was pretty sure I chose the £60 mug 🙁

So that left us with a bit more money and so we went over the top to town and the shops. I’ve recently been really enjoying the three sets by Cassandra Clare all about the supernatural (vampires, werewolves, faeries etc.) and needed to buy the first two in her most recent set. And I haven’t been able to find them in ANY shops so Spencer Thorn then became my most favourite bookshop when I found them! Finally, to round off a lovely day, we had ice cream in one of our favourite places at the top of the high street!

Day Four: Tuesday

The last weekend had been a bit very gloomy and rainy and Tuesday was forecasted the same so we decided to do some indoor activities and one of our favourite – bowling and the arcade! As usual, Dad won *eye-roll* but I came second in front of Mum! This probably sounds really weird but a big achievement for me! Then we played a really cool game at the arcade called ‘Ice-Blaster’ and obviously Mimi and I had to play a game of air hockey.

Thankfully, the weather had cleared up a lot by the afternoon and so we decided to play some crazy golf- one of our other traditions we do every year. The verdict was normal: Dad winning by a landslide although the reminder that we were going out for dinner that night was definitely comforting.

The Bayview Inn (our go-to dinner place) has recently changed their menu under new owners so we decided to try a new restaurant: Elements, which turned out to be DELICIOUS! Amazing service and gorgeous food awaited us and I definitely recommend to anyone who is staying in Bude or near to Widemouth Bay. Finally, the sunset was just beautiful from the new balcony at the Beach Haven. All in all, it was an incredible day!

I honestly couldn’t wait for the sunsets in Bude- we’ve had some pretty spectacular ones previously and they didn’t disappoint!

Day Five: Wednesday

The weather had actually turned gorgeous in the space of a night by Wednesday morning so we took a walk down to Crooklet’s to paddle in the sea and stroll along the beach. It was warm, sunny and dry- the perfect conditions for a beachy morning 🙂

In the afternoon, we scooted along Bude Canal but the worst crime scene was at the end- THE ICE CREAM SHOP WAS CLOSED!!! So instead we had to get boring old ice cream in A BOWL! (I’m kidding- it was still delicious)
