A Boston edition of Project Happy! It was so tricky narrowing down which particular photo to share for each day as we experienced many moments of joy during our adventures in the US. It was hard work too, but totally worth it for the memories we made and the fun we had together. I’m so grateful that we were able to do this trip as a family, especially as it’s likely to be our last big overseas travel journey for a while.
Here are some of my favourite moments from May half term:
Day 81: Mimi’s 11th birthday! After opening birthday cards and presents (and eating cake) we explored Castle Island and Fort Independence. Look how happy she is!
Day 82: Exploring more of the city of Boston. We visited the Mapparium, Boston Public Library, the Garden of Flags for Memorial Day on Boston Common and Louisburg Square.
Day 83: A visit to Harvard University and a delicious dinner out at Hard Rock Café in the evening to belatedly celebrate Mimi’s birthday
Day 84: One of my favourite days from our whole trip. We spent the morning with my beautiful friend Amy, who did a family photoshoot for us (this photo is a quick behind-the-scenes that I managed to snap without her noticing). Brunch with her and her wonderful family afterwards. And then spent the afternoon/evening watching the Boston RedSox play baseball at their home ground (the oldest ballpark in the US, Fenway Park).
Day 85: We checked out of our accommodation in Boston, picked up our hire car and drove an hour South to Cape Cod, which is beautiful! We had a wander in the rain down to the local beach and I completely fell in love with the town we were staying in.
Day 86: Found an awesome ice cream parlour and explored the marina
Day 87: Had a mini day trip to Chatham on the Eastern side of the Cape and oh my goodness it was beautiful. I could have spent absolutely hours there.
Day 88: A morning spent playing mini-golf, an afternoon admiring gorgeous flowers and the early evening on the beach for golden hour = best day of the whole trip
Day 89: The journey home to the UK from Boston was long but it went very smoothly overall and we were greeted with this gorgeous sunset as we drove home from Heathrow airport
Day 90: I quite like the first day home from a holiday – unpacking all the suitcases, pottering around doing the food shopping and holiday washing, collecting the cats and being reunited with them… plus I treated myself to these gorgeous peonies to ward off the post-holiday blues before their short flowering season finishes
