A little post and a few pictures from my birthday 🙂
We were blessed with glorious, hot and sunny weather all weekend. I normally live in jeans, but I actually got my legs out and wore a skirt for once! The girls were doubly stunned that I went out without a coat as well. I’m so much happier when the sun shines and it warms up a bit – it makes such a difference to my mood.
We didn’t do much in the way of celebrations. I think when you’ve got children your own birthday kind of takes a back seat. We took the girls for their swimming lessons in the morning and when we got home I opened my lovely little selection of thoughtful cards and presents. I even managed to convince everyone to have some photos with me – it’s so rare that I’m in the frame (99% of the time it’s me behind the camera), but I really wanted some up-to-date images of the girls and I together. As usual we deployed the ‘silly-face-photo’ tactic first to get everyone giggling and then got some shots with real smiles afterwards. We did a few selfies on the husband’s phone too it’s the only way we can get us all in one photo 🙂
After lunch we ended up heading over to a brand new Next superstore that opened near us last week. It was the first chance I’d had to get up there because work and life have been so busy recently. It’s enormous! A huge ‘home’ department, plus children’s, men’s and women’s collections, an accessories section and even a Costa Coffee. The husband treated me to a few little bits for our house that I fell I love with (I’m gradually changing our bedroom to a grey, yellow and white colour scheme, though it’s taking AGES) and a lovely necklace that I’ve been eyeing up for a while. The girls each got a little treat too – Ella decided on a bag, Mimi chose a cowgirl hat and Lola picked out some Frozen sunglasses.
Even though we didn’t really do much, just having the time together as a family pottering around in the sunshine was enough for me. I’m so lucky to have them.

It sounds like you had a lovely, simple Birthday. Sometimes those ones are just the best. Happy belated Birthday x

Thank you Donna 🙂 I’m learning that simple really is better the vast majority of the time these days!
